In 2011, the company implemented a new focus on process safety in its organic manufacturing operations.
Through a cross functional team, GFS is undertaking a full review of the production processes for its very large line of potential products.
In 2011, the audits conducted under this new focus resulted in creation of a fully-documented production plan for each chemical that addresses MSDS review, documentation of all procedures, QC steps, special instructions and packaging requirements.
Result of this new effort include:
Increases in production yields of as much as 20%; improved reproductibility
30% reduction in failed batches
Minimized down time
Zero accidents or near misses in the nine months the program was in place
