Inorganics - Reduced-Moisture Rare Earth Perchlorates
The new reduced-moisture metal perchlorate product group is being extended to selected rare earth perchlorates. For example, the literature indicates that perchlorate salts of Ce, La, Nd, Gd, and Dy should exist in forms having waters of hydration somewhat lower than the expected hexahydrate (wet) state. The hygroscopic character of these new rare earth perchlorates requires that they be packaged in ampules and handled in rigorously dry environments.
Reduced-moisture perchlorate salts generally hold promise as catalysts in reactions that are only moderately sensitive to moisture. Until now, the lack of suitably “dehydrated” rare earth perchlorates has prevented their use in such systems. We anticipate the demonstration of the ability of these new materials to facilitate novel synthetic processes much like alkali and transition metal perchlorates.Contact inorganicdevelopment@gfschemicals.com for more information.
