The UV/Vis spectrophotometer, including microplate readers and colorimeters, is an essential instrument in most labs. In order to ensure the instrument is reading samples correctly the UV/Vis spectrophotometer should be validated year road. The easiest, most inexpensive way, to accomplish this is to use In-Spec® standards. The In-Spec® product line includes photometric accuracy standards, wavelength accuracy filters, and stray light filters.
These NIST traceable and EPA approved materials come ready-to-use so no mixing or diluting is necessary. In-Spec® standards are available in a sealed quartz cuvette and a variety of pourable bottle sizes. The photometric accuracy standards have a guaranteed shelf life of one year from the date of shipment.
As a validation standard, In-Spec® replaces toxic and expensive potassium dichromate filters. In-Spec® standards are also a simple alternative to reagent standards which only validate the instrument for that analysis. In-Spec® provides more options because absorbance or transmittance data can be provided at any wavelength between 190 & 1100nm instead of only a handful of wavelengths.
Used as a regular quality control check, In-Spec® can verify compliance and uncover any changes in equipment performance. The different concentrations of In-Spec® allow users to choose a solution that closely matches individual applications to ensure quick validations procedures.
